Millenium Falcon Star Moments
69What's Your Favorite?
The Millenium Falcon has to be the coolest starship in the Star Wars galaxy, and here I've described some of my favorite Millenium moments from the two trilogies. If you like these, you can vote for them here, or even add your own favorites.

Escape from Mos Eisley in Star Wars
For the more senior readers (that includes me) this was the first time we'd seen the millenium falcon flying, and it was a great introduction! There's a real sense of power and acceleration from that bright blue hyperdrive engine.
Han Solo and his copilot Chewbacca join up for the first time with Luke, Ben and the droids (R2D2 and C-3PO) and manage to escape from a platoon of deadly stormtroopers after a shootout in the spaceport. It's a great moment.
Perfect Backflip into the Crater on Empire Strikes Back
Only Han Solo would have the nerve to fly into a meteor storm and one of the larger rocks looks like a great hiding place. After flying over the surface Han spots a suitable looking crater and then takes the Millenium Falcon into a perfect backflip down into the hole.
The Empire bombers continue to bomb the surface of the rock but the crater is a safe hiding place - for a while. Who could guess what the crater would turn out to be...
Hiding in the Garbage in Empire Strikes Back
In the middle of another pursuit by the Imperial TIE Fighters the Millenium Falcon buzzes the bridge of a star destroyer and then completely disappears. In fact Han Solo has landed on the edge of the bridge and is clinging on with the Millenium Falcon's landing claw!
Han makes his escape by flating away with the garbage when the Star Destroyer makes a routine dump. Only Boba Fett is smart enough to anticipate this and takes of in pursuit of Han on his ship, the Slave 1
Cameo Appearence on Revenge of the Sith
This one is hard to spot unless you know what you're looking for. The Millenium Falcon can be seen docking at the landing platform on Coruscant, just as Obi-Wan and Anakin arrive after landing General Grievous' starship (or what's left of half of his ship)
It's a distant shot and only lasts for a couple of seconds, so you have to watch closely.
The Millenium Falcon got a new coat of paint for this special shot (actually it was really an old coat of paint, since this is during the Star Wars prequel trilogy)

Hyperdrive Failure (Several Times)
Princess Leia definitely has a pessimistic view about the Millenium Falcon, and she's often right. The hyperdrive fails on a number of occasions, usually when Han Solo is being chased by a squadron of Imperial TIE fighters. These are classic moments in the Star Wars movies though. The hyperdrive is usually fixed by brute force or a couple of tweaks by R2 D2
